All our students are eligible to apply for the Maintenance Grants Scheme for Post Leaving Certificate Courses. If you reside in the County Cork administrative are and wish to apply for a summart of the scheme and an application form, you should send a large self addressed envelope to Co. All day courses at McEgan College qualify for V.T.O.S. In addition to full Social Welfare entitlements, applicants are eligible for:
- Text Books, course and exam fees
- Meal and travel allowance
- P.L.C. Grants
- An additional allowance is paid to those with more than one year on the live register.
BACK TO EDUCATION ALLOWANCE
Eligibility
Participants in this scheme receive a standard rate of payment that is not means tested. The allowance is payable for the duration of the course, including holidays and any maintenance grant you receive will not affect your existing payments.
- You must be at least 21 years of age
- Farm Assist
- One Parent Family Allowance
- Deserted Wife’s Benefit
- Widow/Widower’s Contributory Pension
- Carer’s Allowance
Be in receipt of one of one of the following social welfare payments for at least 6 months
- Unemployment Assistance or Unemployment Benefit
ELIGIBLE COURSE
Any full time, certified course which is recognised by the Department of Education and Science or approved by Further Education and Training Awards Council.
