Michael Sweetman Educational Trust Winners

Stephanie and Claire Web PicClaire Leahy and Stephanie Kelly LCA 6th Year won a trip to Strasbourg, France on winning the Michael Sweetman Educational Trust Competition. The students had to each present their Social Education Task which both were based around LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) in schools and answer questions about the European Union.

It was the schools first time entering this competition and we are very proud of our students achivement in doing so well. The four day trip involved a visit to the European Parliament to see how it conducts its daily business. The students, a total of 24 from Ireland, will also get the chance to debate issues with their EU counterparts. The trip will took place 24-27 January 2017.

The National Office for Suicide Prevention is involved in a range of training initiatives around suicide prevention and mental health promotion. However, most activities regionally are coordinated by the HSE Regional Resource Officers for Suicide Prevention.
